These are pin designs that I created based off my own illustrations from my sketchbook. I wanted to create a wearable form of art and with pins having their moment in the spotlight right now, I thought it would be a great project to attempt.
A lot of research and trial and error went into the process. I wanted to use shrink plastic as my medium since I didn’t have the means to create enamel pins. Finding the right shrink plastic that could go through a printer was a challenge and getting the baking process down was another challenge. The second step was adding the gloss shine to follow the look of enamel pins as well as adding a protective layer.
For my first initial release, I created six designs: a tooth, a toaster, skull, two different colors of mixtapes (blue and yellow), and a skateboard.
My art is very inspired by pop artists such as Keith Haring and lowbrow art and I think these pins reflect that in my own style. I’m looking forward to releasing my next set of designs in the upcoming weeks.
